Boat Tours

Evoking a stunning Nordic landscape, our fjords will leave you breathless. Book with Bontours for a trip down Western Brook or Bonne Bay and experience the spectacular vistas that Gros Morne is famous for. Our hotel acts as both reservations agent and ticket office for Bontours, so we'd advise you to book early: take it from us, these popular tours fill up fast.

Sea Kayaking

Soak up the scenery one paddle at a time. It's the most intimate way to see our waters, putting yourself inches from the surface as you make your way through the protected arms and tickles of Bonne Bay. Be as much a part of the environment as the wildlife you'll encounter and create a memory you'll never forget.

Walking & Hiking

Gros Morne comes built in with a wide variety of hiking trails, ranging from leisurely nature walks to demanding multi-day outings. Gros Morne Adventures offers fully-outfitted guide services so that all you have to worry about is soaking up that beautiful view.

The Ocean View Hotel offers its own concourse: take a light stroll after dinner around our harbour, or even the nearby Lobster Head Lighthouse. Here's a tip: the wharf is the perfect place to soak up our sunset.

Swimming

Want to get your feet wet? The Gros Morne Co-Operating Association has a beautiful indoor facility, with a leisure pool for children and a hot tub for adults. Or, splash around in Rocky Harbour's freshwater pond, with a sand beach just perfect for sun bathing.

Winter

With over 50 km of immaculately groomed cross-country and back country ski trails, Gros Morne is your winter wonderland. Gros Morne Adventures offers fully-outfitted guide services for these trails, along with ski clinics for beginners, or ski rentals are available through the Park. Only 100 km away, nearby Marble Mountain is the perfect day trip for the alpine and snowboard enthusiasts, and snowmobile trails are abundant on the Northern Peninsula. Around here, winter is just another season to soak up the gorgeous view.

Culture & History

Soiree & Times

History in song-just like the troubadours of old. Learn about the most colorful parts of Newfoundland's past-the fishery, logging, shipwrecks, mummering and much more-with Anchors Aweigh, our signature house band at the Anchor Pub. Part of the summer-long Soiree and Times series, every Monday, Wednesday and Friday night in July and August.

Theatre

The local Gros Morne Theatre Festival offers seasonal performances in the various communities in the Park. It received a permanent home in 1999 in the Warehouse Theatre. Included in their roster is the popular "Neddy Norris Nights," a casual, improvisational performance. See performances staged in the wild beauty of our unforgettable vistas.

Gros Morne Interpretations

Our landscape can be more than a little overwhelming-but the only way to unravel all the mysteries of our land is to explore it! Luckily, we have so many local and diverse attractions that learning about our beautiful corner of the world is as entertaining as it is enlightening.

If history is your thing, Gros Morne National Park has exhibits portraying the past, ranging from the very recent to the prehistoric. The Park also offers daily interpretive walks and evening programs, helping to decode the intricacies of our grandiose landscape with information.

The Discovery Centre at Woody Point is the place to go to explore the scientific, geology and environment of the Park. Nearby at Norris Point is located Memorial University's Biology Station, a building that serves as the school's marine research and teaching facility.

While you're in the area, tour Jenniex House, 70-year-old Newfoundland home. It's been a haven for photographers looking for that perfect Gros Morne snapshot for years. With a spectacular lookout point high above Bonne Bay and the Tablelands, it's not hard to see why.
